Shehezi University Expansion Master Plan In the northernmost reaches of China, near the Gobi Desert. Shehezi University envisions a southern expansion to the foothills of the Tianshan Mountains. Collaborating with local LDI and the client team, we envisioned a master plan harmonizing new facilities: the International Student Center, a grand Library, an Arts Building, the Administration Complex, and a Sports Facility.
The ISC, the sole building realized, embodies the mayor's aspiration of “reaching for the sky” with its soaring pitched roofs and tightly wrapped modular screen façade. A blend of old and new..
A monumental compass for knowledge, the Library unites the university’s diverse disciplines. Its cantilevered reading halls extend north and south, with entrances welcoming from the east and west, anchoring the campus in its pursuit of learning.
A layering of creativity, the Arts Building rises with studios and classrooms at its peak, supported by functional spaces below. At its base, vibrant performance and assembly areas give it the air of openness and freedom to express and challenge conventional approaches.
Designed with approachability in mind, the Administration Building houses the university’s leadership. Inspired by traditional screen patterns , its classical modernist form symbolizes unity, tradition, and progress.
